Here at Mom’s we believe we are more than just a restaurant, we are part of this community. As a result we strive to find opportunities to participate and give back to our friends and neighbors whenever and wherever we can. Below you will see a few of the ways in which we strive to carry out this sentiment.

Elementary School Benefit Program

This initiative has been created to foster the relationship between our business and the community by encouraging the educational development of Chico youth. Students at participating elementary schools are given “Reading Rewards” bookmarks. These cards feature five signature spots for a teacher, librarian or other proper adult to sign at the completion of five books of appropriate grade level. In turn, the students may then bring their completed cards into Mom’s where they are rewarded with a free kids meal, certificate of completion and a new bookmark. Furthermore, our menu features an item known as the 3+2+2; three eggs, two pieces of bacon and two pieces of French toast. Every time a guest orders this item, we donate $2 to a local school.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

With a name like Mom’s women’s issues are near to our hearts. As such we have taken the month of October as an opportunity to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. In the fall of 2010 Mom’s hosted two special events benefiting the Enloe Regional Cancer Center; a tea party and live art dinner. These events raised $3712.20!

 

2011 Fundraiser!

We had out 2nd Tea Party For A Cure in October which was a huge success. In addition our keep the change program helped raise over $1486.95 for Bridging The Gap For Breast Cancer!

Thanksgiving at the Esplanade HouseMom’s provided the ingredients for a warm thanksgiving meal to the 50+ families at the Esplanade House. The bags were stuffed with all the fixings from gravy to stuffing and cranberry sauce to the turkeys themselves. It warmed our hearts and we are thrilled to be doing it again this Thanksgiving.

Spring 2011 Fundraiser Program
The Cross Cultural Leadership Center was the beneficiary of Mom’s spring fundraising efforts. We hosted a Southern style dinner affectionately called the “Gumbo Gala” in March. The evening featured live bluegrass music, Cajun cooking, and some good southern hospitality and brought in $621.63 for the cause.

Relay For Life
Each year Mom’s employees gather together to celebrate, remember and fight back against cancer at the Chico Relay for Life. This year we raffled pink kitchen appliances and organized a “keep the change” program at the restaurant to raise $747.07
